With the recent advances in both communications and automotive industries, modern vehicles are equipped with various types of embedded sensors and actuators for collecting regular and critical vehicular information, underpinned by the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) platform. The vehicular cloud services commonly provide a communication and computing platform that enables gathering copious amounts of data that require further processing using big data analytics tools to extract useful knowledge and facilitate intelligent decision making and follow-up actions. The vehicular cloud computing (VCC) is a store house of vehicular information for an intelligent vehicles system in which the driving system processes all kinds of vehicular data to construct the traffic map, determine appropriate paths and avoid obstacles from the paths. This capability will in turn considerably enhance the reliability and security of the driving.
The current situation raises new challenges for researchers to develop new IoT-enabled vehicular applications that take advantage of the existing technologies as well as to contribute in improving the reliability and security of the driving. This workshop aims to be a forum to discuss and cover the latest relevant contributions to IoT vehicular big data sensing and analytics as well as supporting techniques to facilitate effective and efficient sensing and analytics tasks.
